Crispy häppiness chalet

Rezept Knusperhaus 1200Px

An exceptional birthday cake – and not only for children born under a lucky star.

Preparation

1. Make a dough as follows for the detailing. Whisk the butter until peaks form. Add and whisk in the egg, sugar and salt until the mixture is light in colour. Wash the lemon under hot water, dry and then grate in the rind. Sieve the flour and then combine everything quickly to form a uniform dough. Divide the dough into 2 portions, flatten, then wrap in cling film and allow to rest in the refrigerator for approx. 1 hour.

2. Colour the marzipan to different colours of your choice using the food colouring. Now use it to shape details like mushrooms, horseshoes, flowers for the flower box etc.

3. Roll out the dough 8-10 mm thick on a little flour. Cut out animals and trees to your liking. Roll out the dough to approx. 5-7 mm thick, then cut out window shutters and doors. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Refrigerate for 30 mins.

4. Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Bake your dough creations to a light yellow in the oven centre for 10-15 minutes, depending on their thickness. Remove from oven, and allow to cool on a cooling rack.

5. For the Alpine chalet, melt the icing in a hot water bath. Allow to cool slightly. On a large board, lay down the foundation walls of the Alpine chalet as a rectangle measuring 32x12 cm using Kägi minis. Where necessary, cut the Kägis to size with a sharp knife. Brush the icing thinly on the underside of the Kägi minis, and place on the board. Allow to dry.

6. Continue in the same manner, sticking on Kägi minis, row by row. Make openings for the windows and door on the chalet front. Leave a large opening on the rear side. Cut the checkered napkin to size and stick behind the windows using the icing. For the gabled roof, reduce the Kägi row lengths akin to a staircase.

7. Using the icing, attach the Kägi dark as rafters onto the gabled walls; allow these to protrude over the chalet front.

8. For roof tiles, stick the underside of the Toggenburg Butter Cookies onto the rafters with icing. Where necessary, halve the Cookies carefully. For the chimney, cut a Kägi into thirds, stick both ends together and attach to the roof. Attach the window shutters using icing. For the flower box, stick 1 Kägi dark mini in front of the window and arrange the flowers on the flower box.

9. Shape and stick together Kägi dark minis to form a well and a bench. Arrange trees and animals next to the Alpine chalet and attach to the board using marzipan. Sprinkle chopped pistachios onto the meadow.
